Let's look back at NYE.

Let me start by saying I am not a fashion expert. I wear what I think is cute, fits my body, and fits the overall vibe I want to feel. The vibe depends on where I'm going and what I'll do. For example, if it's date night and I want to turn the sexy up, I may wear a cute slip dress and a pump. But if hubby says dress comfortably, don't do the most; I may still wear the slip dress and throw on a chunky flat boot 😂. If I'm going to hang out with friends and I want to be chill, I'll wear jeans and J's (Jordans), over-accessorize, and keep it simple 🤣. My point is I do it my way, and that's what makes fashion fun to me.

I love to recreate looks I see on fashion influencers because I follow a GANG of them on Youtube and Instagram, younger and older than me. I enjoy taking their ideas and making them my own, and the key to doing that is being mindful of what compliments MY body. A community member mentioned the idea of being in a tricky phase in life, where you want to look cute/feel good but also be age appropriate and know where to draw the line. I believe the answer is in the idea, wear what looks and feels good on you. I don't think drawing a line is necessary unless YOU begin to feel uncomfortable with what you wear. Beauty and fashion are in the eye of the beholder and it’s not all about brands and labels (but we will get into them 😉). I encourage boldness with your fashion choices and confidence in SELF first and foremost. You don’t have to fit in the box that society tries to put you in. And if you need an example of bold and electrifying fashion from someone that steps ALL THE WAY outside the box, get to know Iris Apfel. Check out this article that CNBC did on her last year, Iris Apfel: 10 life lessons from 96-year-old Iris Apfel who is probably cooler than you, and the first lesson is, don’t obsess over your age. Below are just a few of my favorite bold, and beautiful Iris looks. I included a look with a sneaker option, a pop of color, and some monochromatic looks, which are my favs. Oh and if you didn’t know, she has a collaboration eith H&M. Check it out!

Clashing colors and loud prints will make up the basis of Apfel's collaboration.

On that note, let’s dive back into me and what I wore for NYE 🤩. I had my outfit in mind a week or so ahead of our planned event; I’m the girl that has to see the entire ensemble come to life before I commit to it. That means I try on the complete look in front of the mirror, shoes, accessories, and all (laughing out loud). I pose, taking selfies and everything. And here it is!

This Ronny Kobo two-piece green sequin number is GIVING! It’s showing body, so I threw the shiny black velvet blazer on for a bit of balance with the black sheer mesh boot; yes, ma’am! For accessories, I kept it simple with gold hoop earrings and the black lamb skin Lady Dior Mini with the gold accents ( I LOVE THIS BAG, I’m into minis) since the outfit was color pop and sparkle in a muted kind of way. What do you think? Did I come through, or would you push back on this look? What did you wear for NYE? Are you bold and daring, or do you play it safe in your fashion choices? Tell me all about it. Share your thoughts in the comments, and drop a picture if you’re bold enough 😉.
