Living the Soft Life: Embracing self and finding balance

The "soft life" has recently gained popularity. People have used the term in conversations relating to relationships and marriages. But what does it mean to live a soft life? And how does it impact our relationships and overall well-being?

For starters, I don't believe living a soft life means being weak or submissive, particularly for women. It's quite the opposite. Living a soft life means prioritizing self-care, setting boundaries, and being intentional about my life. It means being in touch with my emotions and caring for myself physically and mentally.

Living a soft life can mean something different for everyone, but regardless can have numerous benefits, particularly in our relationships and marriages. When we prioritize self-care and set boundaries, I believe we can better communicate our needs and desires to our partners, leading to a healthier and more fulfilling relationship. Both partners can express themselves and feel heard with clarity and compassion.

I feel a greater sense of peace and contentment when I take the time to cater to myself; I can fill myself according to my needs and present a better me to my family and friends. I can handle stress and difficult situations better when I care for myself physically and mentally. I have a greater sense of overall well-being and happiness; as a Libra, this is part of the balance I need in my life.

Living the soft life has had a profound impact in terms of my marriage. My husband only requires a little in the soft life department. Still, he understands what I need and allows me the space to prioritize my self-care and set boundaries, enabling me to communicate better and work through my issues with ease. This communication and understanding have led to a stronger and more resilient relationship, intimacy, and connection in our marriage. When we are in touch with our emotions and take care of ourselves, we can better connect with our partners on a deeper level. In my opinion, this leads to a more fulfilling and satisfying emotional and physical relationship.

Of course, living a soft life is not always easy. It requires intentionality and effort, which can be challenging, particularly in a world that often values productivity and achievement over self-care.

So, how can we start living a soft life? Here are a few tips:

1. Prioritize self-care: This can mean different things for different people, but taking care of ourselves physically and mentally is essential. Examples include exercise, meditation, therapy, or simply taking the time to relax and recharge.

2. Set boundaries: It's necessary to communicate our needs and desires to our partners and to set boundaries when required. This might mean saying no to things that don't align with our values or taking a break from social media to focus on our mental health.

3. Be intentional: Living the soft life requires intentionality and effort. It's crucial to be intentional about how we live our lives and prioritize the things that truly matter to us. Don't just say yes to please someone else when you know you don't have the capacity mentally, physically, or emotionally.

4. Connect with others: Living the soft life doesn't mean isolating ourselves from others. It's essential to connect with others and build strong relationships. This might mean spending time with family or friends, joining a social club, or volunteering your time where you are passionate.

In conclusion, living the soft life means prioritizing self-care, setting boundaries, and being intentional. It's beneficial and can lead to healthier and more fulfilling relationships, a greater sense of peace and contentment, and a more profound intimacy and connection with self and others. While living the soft life is not always easy, prioritizing self-care is worth the effort.
