Discover Paradise: A Luxurious Escape to Curaçao

If you are seeking a tropical getaway that combines breathtaking beaches, luxurious accommodations, and a vibrant cultural experience, look no further than Curaçao; it's a hidden gem in the Caribbean. My husband and I went in late August for our second anniversary (check out my gratitude post if you haven’t already, it’s too cute❤️). It was beautiful, and the weather was perfect.

The Flight

We booked via American Airlines, and I almost had to divorce American. They canceled our flight out of DCA (our preferred airport) and rebooked us a day later due to flight schedules. I was instantly irritated because that setback would have messed up our vacation plans and timeline; anyway, I called American and booked us out of Baltimore because there were no flights out of DCA on our original travel date. We stayed overnight in Baltimore to play it safe. The flight to Curaçao from Baltimore was about seven hours, including a layover in Miami. It wasn't too bad, and we got upgraded on the return.

Accommodations

We stayed at Sandals Royal Curaçao. The resort was picture-perfect, with beautiful greenery and waterfront views. We've done Sandals in Barbados and St. Lucia, and when we heard they were building a new resort in Curaçao, we decided to check it out. We enjoyed the butler services during other stays, so we selected a butler suite with a swim-up pool and tranquility soaking tub, offering the ultimate relaxation. The room was stunning and was equipped with a fully stocked bar and a mobile phone to connect with your dedicated butler. The service was excellent, an overall 9 out of 10. I give it a nine because we ordered room service, and the food was cold when delivered.

The Resort

The resort is relatively new with its modern design and pristine beaches, surrounded by crystal-clear waters where you can soak up the sun on the powdery sands or in the infinity pool. There are several restaurants on the property to indulge in various cuisines that satisfy every palate. Gatsu Gatsu, Strand Seafood House, and Pietra were our favorites. Food trucks on the property offer great local finger foods and small plates. The resort comes alive in the evenings with captivating live entertainment and Karaoke, adding an extra touch of fun to your vacation. There is a spa, and while the spa experience was not my favorite because the ambiance was not giving SPA, the massage was undoubtedly a treat, and I felt rejuvenated afterward.

Beyond The Resort

The resort offers city tours and water and land excursions, so we booked the Open Air City Bus Ride and Beach Experience. During the tour, we walked through and sampled premium liqueurs at the Curaçao Liqueur Distillery, where the famous Curaçao liqueur is made, visited the island's capital, the colorful city of Willemstad and the Old Jewish neighborhood of Scharloo, stopped at the Queen Emma Floating Bridge, and enjoyed time at the Porto Marie Beach and had lunch at the beach restaurant. The tour was a great time; immersed in the city's rich history, we took it all in and got some fantastic pictures, including the iconic Handelskade waterfront.

Our time in Curaçao was a great experience filled with love and celebration. Curaçao offered a combination of luxurious accommodations, stunning beaches, good food, and cultural experiences that made for an unforgettable vacation. Now that I've gone, I don't think I would go back, but I recommend travelers to check it out if you're looking for a beautiful Caribbean getaway.
