Look Fabulous While Getting Fit

How to sweat in style

Working out can be daunting, and you're asking me to be cute while doing it. YES, I am! 😩😂. Looking fab while getting fit is easy; take control of your fitness journey, starting with what you wear to the gym. It's similar to what I said in a previous post about stepping out and looking your best to influence your mood and boost self-confidence. It doesn't matter if you are starting your workout journey or you've been committed to a routine for some time; I'm sharing a few pointers for looking fabulous while getting fit, how to sweat in style.

Let's start with the workout gear. I used to turn old t-shirts into workout gear by cutting off the sleeves or cutting them into crop shirts. I would pair that with leggings I randomly purchased from the sports store, so the outfit didn't make sense, but I didn't care and didn't think it mattered. But here's why it matters: choosing suitable fabrics/materials could make or break your skin, and I can't afford flair-ups for someone with mild eczema. Most of what I was wearing was cotton, which is breathable but collects moisture, so think about a wet shirt just laying on your skin, sweat, and bacteria and whatever else seeping into your pores: Oh, no thank you! So I decided to toss the old makeshift outfits and get a few new pieces. My workout gear now matches (most of the time 😂), and it's that moisture-wicking, fast-drying material that helps wick the moisture away from your body so that your skin stays dry. Speaking of skin, skip the make-up while working out. Sweat and make-up are disastrous receipts for clogged pores and significant breakouts. Don't sacrifice your skin; wash your face and moisturize with something that gives you a dewy glow. My go-to is the Squalane + Probiotic Gel Moisturizer from Biossance, and it's a clean great product.

Just me, working out and posing.

Your sneakers are all about comfort, support, and, the least important thing, style. Picking your workout shoe depends on your activity, but some sneakers have multi-use. It's running for me (laughing out loud), but I also get into weight training and yoga, so my shoe is the Brooks Ghost 14 Sneaker. I chose this shoe because I did more outdoor running last year, so it's about time for a new pair, and I will be sticking with the Brooks brand. They are comfortable, have excellent arch support, and plenty of cushion for those long runs and walks, so I have no blisters 😉.

Your hair in a bonnet while hitting the gym is a no-go. A better look is to wear a top bun or low ponytail to keep your hair out of your face. If you have short hair as I do now and know it is about to be a mess after a workout, mold it with a wrap band and put on a cute baseball hat. That will keep your hair from being seen as it begins sweating out into a mini afro unless you have a TWA (teeny weeny afro). It's a natural hairstyle for my readers that may not know😉. Your towl and your water bottle are accessories, keep them cute and clean.

Let me know in the comments if this is helpful. I talk about looking fabulous, but the most important thing is health. We are not sacrificing our health trying to be cute, so let's get our bodies moving no matter what we have to wear.
